The Baška area in the southeast of the island is exceptional in some respects. When we climb up the Puntarska draga and cross the slopes of Treskavac at about 330 m, with the highest peaks of the island (Obzova, about 570 m) and suddenly and abruptly find ourselves in front of the Baška valley, we are surprised, almost out of breath. Baška is also recognizable by one of the largest and most beautiful pebble beaches on the Adriatic, with a semicircular length of more than 1,800 meters. Naturally fine sand especially allows non-swimmers and children to enjoy the beach, as the depth of the sea gradually increases. Like other places in Krk, in the old part of this place there are narrow streets, houses close to each other so the atmosphere is typical Mediterranean. Apart from the beautiful beach, Baška is interesting for its characteristic architecture, numerous cultural and historical monuments and the surrounding excursion trails. The long and beautiful Baška beach, equipped with numerous leisure opportunities, is one of the most important reasons for coming; the beauty of the place you will walk through is like reading a textbook of coastal architecture, too. In Baška, as in a place "at the end of the world", there are opportunities for boat trips to other islands (uninhabited Prvić, nearby Grgur and Goli, and to the nearby mainland (Senj).
